The W15 Islamabad Women’s Tennis Championship will begin Tuesday at the PTF Tennis
Complex in Islamabad. The event will bring together 30 players from 17 countries for a
competitive international tournament. Players will compete for valuable WTA ranking points
while gaining experience against opponents from different tennis backgrounds. The
championship is part of the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour and carries prize money of
$15,000.
Players from France, China, Russia, Denmark, Mexico, Uzbekistan, South Africa, the
Netherlands, Korea, Nepal, Japan, Hong Kong, Türkiye, the Czech Republic, Germany,
Thailand and Pakistan are taking part. Pakistan will be represented by leading players including
Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab Qureshi, Meheq Khokhar, Romaisa Malik and Hajra Sohail. France’s
Astrid Cirotte is the tournament’s top seed and currently holds the world ranking of 624.
The event is sponsored by Fatima Group and has received support from the Pakistan Tennis
Federation. PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi welcomed the visiting international players
and wished everyone success. He said the federation is committed to developing women’s
tennis and creating better opportunities for Pakistani players. He explained that international
events allow local athletes to face stronger opposition and gain useful professional experience.
PTF Secretary General Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail also highlighted the importance of hosting
women’s tournaments in Islamabad. He said back-to-back WTA events would provide Pakistani
players with valuable international exposure. Such competitions can help local athletes improve
their rankings and understand professional tennis at a higher level. The main draw matches are
scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The tournament offers Pakistani players a
valuable chance to compete at home, learn from international opponents and build confidence.
It also supports the broader development of women’s tennis in Pakistan and strengthens
opportunities for local athletes to progress professionally and represent Pakistan with greater
confidence on international courts ahead.
