Two Candidates Face Cheating Cases During Matric Exams in Attock

The BISE Rawalpindi matric exam cheating case has highlighted the board’s efforts to
ensure fairness during the ongoing second annual examinations. The Board of Intermediate and
Secondary Education Rawalpindi registered Unfair Means Cases (UMC) against two candidates
who were reportedly caught cheating during a surprise inspection in Attock.

According to the reported details, Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan caught the
candidates during an inspection at Government Graduate College Attock. The candidates were
identified by roll numbers 205991 and 200030, and both cases were referred to the board’s
discipline branch for further action.

The discipline branch will review the cases according to the board’s examination rules and
procedures. This process will help officials assess the reported violations and determine what
disciplinary action may be appropriate. The board aims to ensure that examination rules are
followed equally by all candidates.

BISE Rawalpindi Chairman Professor Dr. Iqbal Mahmood reaffirmed the board’s strict approach
towards cheating during examinations. Referring to the directives of Punjab Chief Minister
Maryam Nawaz Sharif, he said that a zero-tolerance policy against unfair means remained in
place across examination centres.

The chairman also emphasised that monitoring teams would continue visiting examination
centres throughout the Rawalpindi division. These teams are responsible for checking
examination arrangements and identifying possible violations of examination rules. Regular
inspections are intended to discourage cheating and support a fair environment for students.

The incident highlights why academic honesty is important for students and educational
institutions. Candidates who prepare sincerely deserve an equal opportunity to demonstrate
their knowledge without unfair advantages. Strict supervision can help protect the value of
examination results and strengthen public confidence in the education system.

The board’s monitoring efforts are continuing throughout the second annual examination period.
Further action against the two candidates will depend on the review conducted by the discipline
branch under the applicable examination regulations.

Maintaining transparent examinations is important for protecting students’ hard work and
educational opportunities. Through regular inspections and consistent enforcement, the board
aims to discourage unfair practices and maintain academic standards across the division.
