The evidence preservation campaign has been launched by the Punjab Forensic Science
Authority in Lahore to improve crime scene protection. The campaign focuses on helping first
responders identify important evidence and protect it before investigators begin their work.
PFSA Director General Dr. Muhammad Amjad said the first 24 hours after a crime are especially
important for preserving evidence. He explained that timely protection can help investigators
understand what happened and support a stronger justice process. First responders were given
guidance about protecting crime scenes and avoiding actions that could damage important
evidence. They were also told to document possible evidence carefully before it is collected for
forensic examination. The campaign carries a simple message for responders, identifying
possible evidence, protecting it and documenting it correctly. Officials said careful handling
during the early stage can improve evidence quality and support more effective investigations.

The Punjab Forensic Science Authority and Punjab Women Protection Authority also agreed to
strengthen cooperation between their institutions. Their joint efforts include knowledge sharing,
professional training and capacity building for officials dealing with sensitive cases. Dr.
Muhammad Amjad highlighted the importance of scientific evidence and proper preservation
during criminal investigations. Hina Parvez Butt also emphasized the value of an effective first
response for protecting evidence and supporting victims. The cooperation is particularly relevant
to cases involving violence against women and other sensitive matters. The Punjab Women
Protection Authority works with protection centres where forensic collection and investigation
can form part of support provided to affected women. Officials said stronger coordination
between institutions can help improve the handling of evidence and support victims during
difficult situations. The initiative aims to encourage careful evidence management from the
earliest stage of an investigation.
