The PM Shehbaz PTI talks offer came with a condition as he urged protesters to end their
Islamabad long march.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government would hold talks with PTI after the party
ends its protests and sit-ins.He made these remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony of the
Kashmir Chowk Underpass in Islamabad on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.The prime minister said
political differences should be resolved through dialogue and cooperation instead of continued
confrontation on streets peacefully. He also warned that the law would take its course to protect
citizens, public property and economic interests across Pakistan.
Shehbaz said prolonged protests could seriously affect economic activities including exports,
imports, manufacturing and the daily movement of workers nationwide.
He said Pakistan had achieved greater economic stability through sustained efforts and warned
against actions that could reverse further progress.
The prime minister said the ruling PML-N and PPP had already formed a joint committee to
engage PTI representatives formally. According to his remarks, the dialogue process stalled
after PTI sought changes to a draft that had already been finalized. The government viewed
those changes as a setback while PTI has continued its political campaign demanding action on
its concerns. The ongoing PTI march began in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and is being led by
provincial Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Pakistan. The protest is linked to demands concerning
jailed former prime minister Imran Khan and has increased political tensions across Pakistan.
