LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has asked for further arguments on whether a petition
challenging the detention of Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, can be heard
by the court. Justice Abher Gul Khan heard the petition filed by Aleema Khan’s son, Shahraiz
Khan.

During the hearing, the court questioned why the petition was filed without first approaching the
relevant authority. Aleema Khan’s lawyer argued that the detention process raised legal
questions and said the detention review and notification were issued on the same day. He also
referred to the authorities’ claims about Aleema’s alleged involvement in the May 9 incidents.

The lawyer further argued that Aleema Khan had been cleared during the investigation of the
May 9 case and questioned the use of the incident as a basis for her detention. The court also
asked whether she had bail in all cases against her, and the lawyer said that two or three
cases were still pending for bail.

The lawyer requested more time to present arguments on the legal issue. The Lahore High
Court adjourned the hearing until September 25, when further arguments on the
maintainability of the petition are expected.
