ICCI and Uzbek Women’s Association have agreed to create a joint working group for
stronger business cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. The decision was discussed
during a meeting at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday.
A senior delegation from the International Business community of Women’s Association
Uzbekistan visited ICCI to discuss new opportunities for women entrepreneurs. The delegation
was led by IBWA Uzbekistan Chairwoman Ms. Gulnora Makhmudova during the important
business meeting.The discussion focused on supporting women-led businesses and improving
trade and investment between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Both sides discussed practical ways to
connect women entrepreneurs and create opportunities for future business partnerships.
The Uzbek delegation included Ms. Nodira Begim Mukhamadalieva who heads the International
Department of the association. Ms. Dilyafruz Tashmukhamedova and Project Manager Ms.
Anjelika Ogay also attended the meeting.Khalid Taimour Akram who serves as an Advisor to the
Chairman of Habib Rafiq Group also joined the delegation. The participants discussed different
areas where women entrepreneurs could develop stronger business connections.ICCI President
Mohammad Zikria Akbar Zia welcomed the visiting delegation and spoke about the importance
of women in economic development. He said women’s economic empowerment was important
for sustainable growth and wider prosperity.
He explained that Pakistan and Uzbekistan had strong potential for expanding
business-to-business connections. He also assured the visiting delegation that ICCI would
support meetings between women entrepreneurs from both countries.
The ICCI president also highlighted the importance of regular business visits between the two
countries. He said stronger communication could help turn friendly relations into real trade and
investment opportunities.Ms. Gulnora Makhmudova explained the efforts being made in
Uzbekistan to support women in business. She said women make up around 40 percent of
entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan.She also said women entrepreneurs were receiving support
through different programmes and initiatives. These efforts are helping women become more
active in business and contribute to economic development.
Ms. Makhmudova invited Pakistani women entrepreneurs to attend the B2B Women Conference
in Tashkent next April. The conference will offer opportunities for networking and business
matchmaking between participants.The event will also provide a platform for women
entrepreneurs to explore possible partnerships and joint business ventures. Such meetings can
help businesses discover new markets and develop valuable international connections.
ICCI Senior Vice President Mohammad Ashfaq Hussain Chatha and Vice President Mohammad
Waqas Khan also supported stronger cooperation. They stressed that continued institutional
contact could improve business relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.ICCI Executive
Members Ms. Nageena Khaleeque and Abrar ul Haq also shared their views during the
discussion. ICCI member Prof. Dr. Johria Azhar also highlighted possible areas for future
cooperation.
The participants identified several opportunities where Pakistani and Uzbek women
entrepreneurs could work together. They believed regular communication could help turn these
opportunities into useful business activities.The main development from the meeting was the
proposal for a joint working group between the two sides. The group will help maintain regular
communication and identify potential business opportunities.It will also support practical
business connections between women entrepreneurs from Pakistan and Uzbekistan. The
initiative could make it easier for businesses to find suitable partners and explore new
