international markets.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry joined the meeting

officials also participated in the discussions.
During the meeting, Jam Kamal said Pakistan needed to expand its export products and explore
new international markets. He highlighted the importance of producing value-added goods and

Business representatives shared concerns about rising energy prices, transportation expenses,
taxes, and increasing production costs. They also discussed shipping delays, port services, tax
refunds, and banking regulations that affect their business activities.
Exporters welcomed the EXIM Bank scheme, which they said could help businesses access
financing and support their plans to enter international markets. Participants also suggested
studying the trade advantages enjoyed by Bangladesh and India to improve Pakistan’s export
competitiveness.
Representatives from the meat and livestock sector raised concerns about foot-and-mouth
disease and international health requirements. They also highlighted border restrictions and
difficulties in accessing Gulf markets.
Jam Kamal said the Prime Minister was taking a strong interest in livestock development and
disease control. He also mentioned plans for a private-sector-led livestock board to support
investment and improve export opportunities.
Mineral exporters raised concerns about restrictions on mining explosives and withholding
taxes. Representatives from the surgical instruments industry stressed the need for modern
technology, skilled workers, and greater investment.
Federal Board of Revenue officials discussed efforts to improve tax refund processing and
digital invoicing. Exporters also highlighted problems involving delayed refunds, business visas,
and international compliance requirements.
At the end of the meeting, Jam Kamal said the Ministry of Commerce would collect concerns
from different industries and seek responses from relevant departments. The ministry would
prepare practical recommendations for the Prime Minister’s consideration.
The meeting highlighted the government’s efforts to work closely with businesses and address
trade challenges. These discussions aim to strengthen local industries and create better
opportunities for Pakistan’s exporters.
