The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone has arrested two men accused of cheating
citizens through fake work visa promises. The suspects allegedly collected a total of Rs6.7
million from people by promising them jobs in foreign countries.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrested suspects have been identified as Ghulam
Abbas and Chaudhry Adnan Akram War. Both suspects were arrested from different areas of
Gujrat.
During the investigation, the FIA found that Ghulam Abbas allegedly cheated a citizen out of
Rs2.7 million. He promised to arrange an Italian work visa but failed to fulfil his promise. The FIA
Lahore had been searching for him since 2023.
The second suspect, Chaudhry Adnan Akram War, allegedly collected Rs4 million from citizens
by promising them work visas for the Netherlands. He reportedly took money from people who
wanted to travel abroad for employment opportunities.
The FIA arrested both suspects over their alleged involvement in migrant smuggling and work
visa fraud. The agency has also started further investigations into the cases.
The investigation aims to collect more evidence and uncover the full details of the alleged fraud.
The FIA will also look into whether other people were involved in these activities.
Cases like these highlight the risks faced by people who trust individuals offering overseas
employment opportunities. Many citizens spend their savings in the hope of finding better jobs
abroad. However, fake visa agents can take advantage of their hopes and financial needs.
The FIA’s action is an important step towards addressing overseas employment fraud. Citizens
are advised to verify employment offers and visa arrangements before paying money to any
agent.
