Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Center Murree Reviews Operational Progress

The Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Center Murree is making progress as Punjab Health Minister
Khawaja Salman Rafique reviewed its operations during a meeting Wednesday. The meeting
focused on administration, healthcare infrastructure, modernization plans, staffing and
equipment needed to improve cardiac services for residents.

Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood, RIC Executive Director Prof. Dr. Musfirah, Medical
Superintendent Dr. Qaiser Abbasi and senior Buildings Department officials attended the
meeting. They discussed staff deployment and equipment upgrades required to strengthen the
center and support patients from Murree and nearby communities.

The RIC Executive Director briefed the minister about operational progress at the facility. She
said modern medical equipment has been installed, including an operational Cardiac
Catheterization Laboratory, known as a Cath Lab, for heart diagnosis and treatment.

The Cath Lab is expected to help residents receive specialized cardiovascular services closer to
home. This development can reduce the need for patients to travel to other cities when they
require cardiac tests or treatment.

Khawaja Salman Rafique said the Punjab government has allocated substantial funds under
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s healthcare vision. The investment aims to transform
Syed Muhammad Hussain Samli Hospital and the Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Center into a major
cardiac care hub.

Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood directed relevant departments to follow project timelines and
complete staff hiring promptly. He also ordered officials to improve supply chains so specialized
healthcare services can continue smoothly across the hill station.

The meeting also reviewed administrative requirements and modernization needs at the center.
Officials were asked to complete pending work and ensure necessary resources remain
available for patients and medical teams.

The development reflects efforts to improve cardiac healthcare in Murree and surrounding
areas. A stronger local facility can provide residents with easier access to specialized services
while supporting timely care during serious critical heart emergencies.
