The Punjab government has asked the federal Ministry of Interior to provide Pakistan Rangers
for additional security support in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Mianwali. The request was
made after Punjab Police sought extra assistance to help maintain law and order.

Under the proposed plan, three Rangers companies will be requested for Rawalpindi, while
five Rangers wings will be deployed in Attock. Jhelum and Mianwali will each receive one
Rangers company. The requested deployment is expected to continue until October 5, 2026.

The request was discussed and approved at the 59th meeting of the Standing Committee of
the Cabinet on Law and Order, held on September 20. The Rangers deployment will be
carried out under Article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan, relevant sections of the
Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, and the Pakistan Rangers Ordinance, 1959.

The Punjab Home Department said the request is aimed at providing additional security
assistance and helping protect the lives and property of citizens. The development comes as
authorities prepare security arrangements for upcoming public activity in the region.
