Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers protested against the governor’s rule in Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa after the federal government suspended the provincial administration.
Demonstrators gathered in Bajaur and Mohmand to oppose the decision and show support for
their party leadership.
In Bajaur, PTI supporters assembled at Inayat Kallay Bazaar and raised slogans against the
federal government. Party activists Habib Khan and Muhsin Khan criticised the removal of the
provincial government. They also expressed anger over the arrests of Chief Minister Sohail
Afridi and provincial party president Junid Akbar Khan.
The protest became tense when police arrived and attempted to stop the demonstration. Some
officers and protesters exchanged harsh words and reportedly became involved in a brief
scuffle. However, the demonstrators promised to remain peaceful and continued expressing
their opposition to the government’s decision.
PTI workers described the imposition of governor’s rule as unacceptable. They vowed to
continue their protests and defend their party’s political position. Party leaders had also
announced demonstrations in Khar and other local areas but only the Inayat Kallay protest was
confirmed in the report.
Mobile phone and internet services remained suspended in Bajaur during the demonstrations.
Police also reportedly attempted to arrest provincial lawmakers Dr Hamidur Rehman and Anwar
Zeb Khan. Both lawmakers said on social media that police visited their homes while they were
away.
In Mohmand district, PTI workers and local residents gathered at Mian Mandi Bazaar to reject
the governor’s rule and emergency measures. MNA Sajid Khan Mohmand and several local
party leaders addressed the gathering. Members of the Insaf Youth Wing and other residents
also participated.
The protesters expressed support for PTI founder Imran Khan and pledged to continue their
struggle for what the party calls “Haqeeqi Azadi” or real freedom.
Police remained deployed at important public places to prevent unrest and maintain order. The
demonstrations reflected growing political tensions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the
suspension of the provincial government and detention of senior PTI leaders.
