Islamabad Reports Seven Dengue Cases as Prevention Efforts Increase

Islamabad reported seven confirmed dengue cases between June and September 2026. The
Islamabad dengue cases 2026 report also confirmed that no deaths occurred during this
period.

Federal Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal shared these details in a
written reply to the National Assembly. The ministry also reported that authorities registered 214
cases against people who violated dengue prevention rules.

Health teams carried out more than 1.29 million anti-larval activities to stop mosquitoes from
breeding. These activities aimed to reduce the risk of dengue spreading across the federal
capital.

Islamabad recorded one dengue case in June and two cases in July. Another case appeared in
August while September recorded three confirmed cases.

Authorities also conducted 253 indoor spraying operations and 1,075 thermal fogging activities.
These efforts helped control mosquitoes in different parts of the city.

Officials identified 7,393 places where dengue mosquitoes could breed. These included 2,935
locations in urban areas and 4,459 locations in rural areas. Teams also found and removed
mosquito larvae from 108,421 locations.

The ministry said hospitals had arranged special beds and medicines for dengue patients.
Doctors and other medical staff were also available to provide care throughout the day and
night.

Authorities continued awareness campaigns and dengue prevention sessions in schools.
Officials also held weekly meetings and carried out surprise hospital inspections to improve
disease control.

The ministry also shared information about Pakistan’s HIV prevention strategy for 2026 to 2031.
Plans were being prepared to help provinces improve HIV prevention and control.
The government also discussed its hepatitis C programme. It provides free screening and
treatment to eligible people aged twelve and above. People who test positive during initial
screening undergo another test to confirm the infection.

The programme is operating through 40 health centres in Islamabad. Around 50 Lady Health
Workers are also receiving training to support testing and public awareness.
Federal and provincial health departments are working together to monitor these health
programmes. A national task force is also checking progress and reviewing the targets.
