Shadab Khan’s Century Leads Pakistan to Thrilling One-Wicket Victory Over England

Pakistan secured a thrilling one-wicket victory over England at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on
Sunday night. Shadab Khan scored a brilliant unbeaten century to help Pakistan chase the
target of 242 runs in 47.1 overs.

Pakistan faced serious difficulties during the chase and lost nine wickets for 154 runs. However,
Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf produced an outstanding partnership to rescue their team and
secure an important victory.

Shadab scored 113 runs from 96 balls, hitting 13 fours and five sixes. His remarkable innings
helped Pakistan achieve their third consecutive victory in the One Day International tri-series.
The partnership between Shadab and Haris proved decisive during the final stages. They added
an unbeaten 89 runs for the tenth wicket, setting a record for Pakistan’s highest tenth-wicket
partnership in One Day Internationals.

Shadab also experienced a tense moment when he was initially given out leg-before-wicket on
97 runs. England players began celebrating, but a review showed that the ball had touched his
bat before reaching his pad.

This decision allowed Shadab to continue his innings and bring Pakistan closer to victory. Haris
remained unbeaten on seven runs from 19 balls and struck the winning boundary to complete
the successful chase.

Earlier, England scored 241 runs before losing all their wickets in 46.4 overs. Ben Duckett led
the batting performance with 105 runs from 111 balls, while Sam Curran contributed 42 runs.
Gus Atkinson remained unbeaten on 36 runs and helped England build a competitive total
during the final overs. England had earlier struggled after losing three wickets for only 19 runs.
Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi delivered an impressive bowling performance by taking four
wickets for 46 runs. Arafat Minhas and debutant Razaullah claimed two wickets each to restrict
England’s innings.

During Pakistan’s chase, England’s bowlers created significant pressure. Atkinson dismissed
Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam, while debutant Henry Crocombe removed Saim Ayub from the
crease.

Saad Baig scored 32 runs, while Salman Ali Agha added 26 runs before departing. Shadab
continued fighting despite losing partners and eventually turned the match around with his
exceptional batting.

Shadab received the Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance. England
suffered their third consecutive defeat in the tri-series and remained at the bottom of the
standings.

The victory strengthened Pakistan’s position in the competition. Shadab’s maiden international
century and the record-breaking final-wicket partnership made the match a memorable
achievement for Pakistan cricket.
