Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has promised to address traders’
concerns and remove unnecessary business restrictions. During his Lahore Chamber of
Commerce visit, he said business owners should be treated with respect and allowed to run
their businesses without unnecessary interference. He also promised to review laws that create
difficulties for traders and make changes where needed.

The speaker described businesspeople as an important part of Pakistan’s economic growth. He
said removing unnecessary restrictions could help businesses work more smoothly and
encourage investment. He added that government regulations should support business
activities instead of creating avoidable problems for traders and investors.

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan also promised to present complaints against the Punjab
Enforcement and Regulatory Authority to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He said the
business community’s concerns needed serious attention. He assured the chamber’s
representatives that their complaints would reach the relevant authorities for review.

During the meeting, Lahore Chamber President Ali Hussam Asghar and Vice President
Chaudhry Khadim discussed problems faced by local traders. Other business representatives
also shared their concerns about current regulations. They appreciated policies that supported
businesses but criticised PERA over actions they said were causing difficulties for traders.

The meeting highlighted the need for fair rules and better cooperation between government
departments and business owners. Representatives stressed that authorities should enforce
laws fairly without creating unnecessary pressure on legitimate businesses. They also called for
policies that encourage investment and support economic development.

The speaker said traders had an important role in building a stronger national economy. He
encouraged business owners to pay taxes honestly and fulfil their legal responsibilities. He
added that avoiding taxes could harm the country’s economic progress and public finances.

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan stressed that business growth and tax compliance should move
forward together. He said removing unnecessary obstacles and applying fair regulations could
help create a healthier business environment. The meeting aimed to strengthen communication
between the government and traders while supporting Pakistan’s economic development.
