Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Mohammad Zikria Akbar Zia
has stressed the need for strong cooperation between business organizations to promote
renewable energy in Pakistan. He said that alternative energy could help strengthen the
country’s economy and reduce electricity costs for industries.

He highlighted the importance of solar, wind and other clean energy sources for Pakistan’s
economic and industrial growth. He explained that greater use of renewable energy could
improve energy security and attract local and foreign investment.
According to an official press release, Mohammad Zikria Akbar Zia shared these views during a
meeting with a joint delegation of renewable energy associations. The delegation visited ICCI to
congratulate its newly elected leadership.

The delegation included Pakistan Alternative Energy Association (PAEA) Chairman Asif Javed

The visiting delegation appreciated ICCI’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with different
business associations. The members expressed confidence that a strong partnership would
create new investment opportunities and support the transfer of modern technology to Pakistan.
Both sides also discussed plans to organize awareness programmes, training sessions,

industries. Other important areas include encouraging local battery manufacturing and creating
new employment opportunities.
