LESCO Catches 27 People for Electricity Theft in Lahore, Two Arrested

The LESCO electricity theft operation has resulted in 27 people being caught in the Eastern
Circle, while two individuals were arrested. The action aims to stop illegal electricity use and
reduce financial losses caused by power theft.

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) conducted the operation under the supervision
of Eastern Circle Superintendent Engineer Umar Bilal. Teams visited Natt, Dyal, Dera Jajjan,
Dogran Kalan, Narwar and Achoo Gill to identify illegal electricity connections.
Further raids took place in different areas of the Wahga Road and Bilal Colony subdivisions.
Police and Rangers joined LESCO officials to support the operation and help identify people
involved in electricity theft.

According to the LESCO spokesperson, seven of the 27 people caught were using unregistered
electricity connections. Officials also found cases where electricity was being taken directly from
power lines without proper permission.
During the operation in Achoo Gill, one person was arrested for stealing electricity through a
direct low-tension (LT) line. Officials also discovered that the individual owed LESCO
approximately Rs. 200,000 in unpaid electricity bills.

The teams removed cables and other equipment used for illegal electricity connections. LESCO
has started legal proceedings against those involved and plans to issue detection bills to
recover the cost of illegally consumed electricity.
The company explained that electricity theft causes financial losses worth millions of rupees. It
can also affect the electricity system and create an unfair burden on consumers who pay their
bills regularly.

LESCO’s Chief Executive Officer said operations against electricity theft and unpaid bills would
continue without discrimination. The company aims to discourage illegal connections and
improve the recovery of outstanding payments.

Through these actions, LESCO hopes to protect its electricity supply system and reduce losses.
The company will continue working with law enforcement agencies to identify illegal connections
and take appropriate action against those responsible.

The operation highlights the importance of using electricity legally and paying bills on time.
LESCO is encouraging consumers to follow the rules and cooperate with officials to prevent
electricity theft.
