The Rawalpindi Ring Road project has moved closer to its opening as authorities continue
preparations for security, operations and administration. Punjab Ring Road Authority
Chairperson Safiullah Gondal chaired an important meeting to review arrangements for the
major road project. The meeting focused on policing, maintenance, staff deployment and
administrative matters before the road becomes operational.
The meeting was attended by the Commandant Ring Road Police, Chief Engineer Punjab Ring
Road Authority, Director Operations and Maintenance and Director Contracts and Planning. The
Commandant Ring Road Police gave a detailed briefing about security and policing
arrangements for the Rawalpindi Ring Road. Officials also discussed the steps needed to
provide safer travel and better management after the road opens.
Authorities said the purchase of new vehicles for the Rawalpindi Ring Road has been
completed. Police personnel have also been obtained from Punjab Highway Patrol on
deputation to support security requirements. Staff for operations and maintenance will be
appointed soon according to the meeting. Buildings for the Ring Road sub offices have also
been finalized for administrative activities.
The latest preparations come as the 38 kilometre Rawalpindi Ring Road reaches an advanced
stage. Recent reporting said the main road is largely complete but some supporting work
remains before traffic can begin using the route. These works include toll plazas and systems
required for collecting road fees and managing traffic.
The official statement said the opening of the Rawalpindi Ring Road is expected soon but did
not provide a confirmed inauguration date. After the opening ceremony, Punjab Ring Road
Authority will take practical responsibility for administrative and operational matters. The project
is expected to improve connectivity and help reduce traffic pressure on major roads around
Rawalpindi and nearby areas.
The ongoing preparations show that authorities are working on more than construction alone.
Security teams, maintenance staff, vehicles and office facilities are being arranged to support
smooth operations. Further updates are expected as remaining works are completed and the
authorities move toward the formal opening of the road for public travel.
