Iran and Malaysia Plan Joint Tourism and Heritage Protection Projects

Iran and Malaysia are planning joint tourism projects to promote cultural exchange and protect
historical sites. The Iran and Malaysia tourism cooperation aims to attract more visitors and
build stronger cultural relationships between both countries.

Ali Darabi is Iran’s Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts. He shared
details about the plans during an interview with IRNA news agency and highlighted the
importance of tourism partnerships.

The discussions followed a meeting between Darabi and Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism, Arts
and Culture, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing. Their meeting took place in Hangzhou, China, during the
fourth session of the Asian Cultural Heritage Alliance.

Both countries want to increase tourist visits and encourage people to learn about different
cultures. They are also planning to participate in tourism events and exhibitions to introduce
their historical attractions and traditions.

Protecting cultural heritage is another major part of the proposed cooperation. Darabi explained
that countries can protect historical places by sharing technical knowledge and providing
training for heritage experts.

The two countries also support the restoration of historical sites through scientific methods and
recognised international standards. These efforts can help preserve valuable buildings and
cultural landmarks for future generations.

Iran is also interested in attracting more Malaysian tourists. The country hopes to introduce
visitors to its rich history and natural attractions while creating new opportunities for tourism
businesses.

Darabi has encouraged travel agencies and tourism companies in both countries to work more
closely. Better cooperation could make travel easier and encourage more people to explore Iran
and Malaysia.

Another important proposal is to organise an Iran Week in Malaysia. The event would introduce
Iranian culture and civilisational heritage to Malaysian audiences through exhibitions and
cultural activities.

However the dates and activities for Iran Week have not yet been confirmed. Relevant
institutions from both countries must coordinate the arrangements before the programme can
move forward.

Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts is expected to take part in planning
the proposed event. The initiative could help promote tourism and increase public
understanding of Iranian traditions.

Overall these plans highlight the value of cultural exchange and international cooperation. Both
countries hope to strengthen their relationship while protecting historical heritage and creating
new tourism opportunities.
