The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a 17-year-old student in Bahawalpur over an alleged attempt to poison his father. According to the agency, the teenager had reportedly used an artificial intelligence (AI) system to seek information after an earlier attempt was unsuccessful.

NCCIA officials said the student had reportedly developed an interest in chemistry after watching the crime drama “Breaking Bad.” Investigators also said he had set up a small laboratory at his home and had allegedly obtained chemical materials from Australia and Islamabad.

According to the NCCIA, the teenager allegedly made an earlier attempt to harm his father but was unsuccessful. He later reportedly turned to an AI system for further guidance. The agency said the case came to its attention after information was received from abroad, leading NCCIA Punjab Director Hissam Bin Iqbal to order an investigation and the teenager’s arrest.

The investigation is continuing, with authorities looking into the teenager’s online activities and the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident. The case has also raised wider concerns about young people’s online safety and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
