BISP Launches Nationwide Campaign to Help Women Understand Digital Payments

The BISP digital payment system is the main focus of a new nationwide awareness campaign
launched to help women receive their financial assistance more easily. The Benazir Income
Support Programme (BISP) has started training activities to explain the new payment system
and guide women towards safer financial transactions.

The campaign aims to make the payment process easier for women who depend on financial
assistance to manage their household needs. Under the new system, beneficiaries can collect
their money from any authorised retailer of partner banks across Pakistan after receiving a
payment confirmation SMS. This facility will help women access their payments without
travelling to specific payment centres.

The opening training session was held in Lahore on Friday, October 9, 2026. Additional
Secretary BISP Dr. Asmat Nawaz addressed the session and explained why proper staff training
and public awareness were important for the successful implementation of the new system. He
stressed that women must receive clear instructions before using digital payment facilities.

Dr. Asmat Nawaz explained that the new system would give women more flexibility when
collecting their financial assistance. They would be able to visit authorised retailers in different
cities according to their convenience and potentially save time and travel expenses. The
initiative also aims to improve access to financial support for women living in different areas.
He urged BISP staff to teach beneficiaries how to use digital wallets and protect their mobile
phones and SIM cards. Women were also advised to keep their transaction messages secure
and check that they receive their complete payments. These precautions can help beneficiaries
protect their money and avoid payment-related problems.

The official warned that unauthorized deductions from women’s payments would not be
tolerated. Beneficiaries facing payment difficulties or unfair deductions can call the BISP helpline
at 0800-26477 or visit their nearest BISP tehsil office for assistance.

Several senior officials attended the training session, including Adnan Ghuman, Naseeruddin
Sarwar, Faisal Aslam and Qurat ul Ain Fatima. Other BISP representatives, training officials and
consultants also participated in the event. Dr. Asmat Nawaz appreciated UNICEF’s Social Policy
Section for supporting the training activities.

The campaign aims to improve awareness and make financial assistance more accessible to
women across Pakistan. By providing clear guidance and encouraging secure transactions,
BISP hopes to help beneficiaries understand the new payment process and receive their
entitled assistance with greater confidence.
