Dr. Muhammad Abbas has been appointed as the UHS Controller of Examinations for another
three-year term at the University of Health Sciences Lahore. According to the appointment
details, the Governor of Punjab approved his appointment after the relevant departmental
process. The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department then issued the
notification for his new term. Dr. Muhammad Abbas has previously served as the university’s
Controller of Examinations for three years. His return to the position brings an experienced
official back to an important part of UHS academic administration. The official UHS website
currently lists Dr. Muhammad Abbas as Controller of Examinations. His responsibilities include
examination conduct, tabulation, secrecy and examination logistics at the university. His
department also handles thesis evaluation and other important examination-related matters.
The appointment is important for thousands of students who depend on UHS for professional
examinations and academic assessment. UHS conducts examinations for medical and health
sciences programmes across Punjab.

The appointment comes while UHS continues to manage several major examinations and
academic activities during 2026. Recent media reports also identified Dr. Muhammad Abbas as
Controller of Examinations during MDCAT 2026 arrangements in Lahore. Dunya News reported
that MDCAT papers were dispatched to examination centres under strict security arrangements
before the September 20 test. The papers were placed inside sealed steel trunks and
transported under police supervision. More than 49,000 candidates were expected to appear at
31 centres across 15 cities in Punjab. Dr. Muhammad Abbas was present with senior UHS
officials during the dispatch of examination staff and papers. Official UHS examination records
also show his name as Controller of Examinations on the 2026 MS, MD and MDS examination
calendar. His new three-year appointment will continue his responsibilities within the university
examination system. The development is relevant to students, teachers and affiliated medical
institutions that work with UHS examination authorities.
