The PIA Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners agreement marks a new step in Pakistan International
Airlines’ efforts to expand its international flight operations. PIA has signed a partnership
agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways to add two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to its fleet. The
aircraft are expected to join PIA in November 2026 and operate direct long-distance flights
between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. Such partnerships highlight the role of international
business cooperation in creating opportunities between organisations across different countries.
The agreement aims to help PIA meet growing passenger demand and provide more travel
options. The United Kingdom is an important destination for the airline because many Pakistani
families live there and regularly travel between the two countries. The addition of these aircraft
is expected to increase available seating and strengthen PIA’s international flight network.
Under the agreement, Norse Atlantic Airways will provide the aircraft along with crew members,
maintenance and insurance. This arrangement is known as Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and
Insurance (ACMI). It allows PIA to expand its long-distance operations while receiving essential
aircraft services from its partner. The agreement also helps Norse Atlantic use its aircraft
through a new business opportunity.
PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat said the United Kingdom remained an
important market for the airline. He explained that the partnership would increase flight capacity
and provide passengers with more choices. He also expressed hope that the Dreamliners would
improve the travel experience for passengers seeking better services on international journeys.
Norse Atlantic Chief Executive Officer Eivind Roald welcomed the agreement and said it
supported his airline’s plan to provide aircraft through ACMI partnerships. He also highlighted
the importance of improving connections between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. The
additional aircraft could provide more convenient travel options for the Pakistani community
living in Britain.
Both airlines described the agreement as the beginning of a strategic partnership. The aircraft
are expected to begin operations in November 2026, although passengers should wait for
official announcements about specific routes and flight schedules. This agreement could support
PIA’s wider plans to improve its international services and respond to the growing demand for
direct travel between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
