Dengue cases in Rawalpindi have reached 83 after four new infections were reported during the
last two days. Health officials have increased anti-dengue activities to control the spread of the
mosquito-borne disease and protect residents.
District Health Officer Preventive Dr Jawad confirmed that laboratory reports had identified four
new dengue patients. Three cases were reported on Friday while another patient tested positive
on Saturday.
He said that seven dengue patients were receiving treatment in the dengue ward at Holy Family
Hospital. Health teams have also increased their efforts in areas where new patients were
identified.
According to Dr Jawad, two patients belonged to the main city area. One patient came from
Union Council Wah while another was reported from Chakri.
He shared that Rawalpindi recorded 51 dengue cases during October so far. Another 27 cases
were reported in September. No dengue cases were recorded in August this year.
Health officials also highlighted a major improvement compared to last year. More than 1,500
dengue patients were reported in Rawalpindi during the previous year.
Meanwhile, the district administration has directed relevant departments to strengthen field
inspections and monitoring activities. The instructions were given during a meeting of the
District Emergency and Response Committee for Dengue Control at the Deputy Commissioner’s
Office in Rawalpindi.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Social Services) Fazail Mudassar chaired the meeting. He
warned that negligence and absence from duty during anti-dengue activities would not be
accepted. He also directed officials to take strict action against workers who report fake or
incomplete field activities.
The meeting reviewed the overall progress of the anti-dengue campaign. Officials discussed the
number of confirmed patients and indoor and outdoor inspection activities. They also reviewed
mosquito larvae detection and monitoring of areas identified as dengue hotspots.
The performance of field teams was also examined during the meeting. The district
administration stressed the need for regular inspections and better coordination between
departments.
According to the official briefing, Rawalpindi recorded 83 confirmed dengue cases by October
31, 2026. During the same period last year, the district had reported 1,586 cases.
This shows a significant decline in dengue infections compared to the previous year. However,
health authorities are continuing preventive measures to stop further infections.
Officials have urged field teams to remain active and ensure proper monitoring of affected
areas. The administration aims to control mosquito breeding and prevent dengue cases from
increasing during the current season.
