Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan has raised concerns over alleged LESCO
corruption and consumer complaints in Allahabad, Chunian. He spoke on Wednesday and
discussed complaints involving electricity services and officials. Khan claimed a LESCO official
received Rs150,000 from a resident for removing high tension wires outside his house. He said
the work was not completed despite the alleged payment made for removing the wires. Khan
also discussed a case involving six villagers who were booked after an alleged attack on a
LESCO official. Five accused residents later had their electricity connections disconnected,
according to the report. He claimed a police inquiry found the FIR false and said videos showed
the accused were absent. Khan further raised concerns about alleged payments for transformer
repairs, delayed meter replacement and complaints about excessive electricity bills. The
allegations were made by Khan, and relevant authorities would need to verify them through
investigation.

The speaker highlighted safety concerns linked to high tension wires in residential areas around
Allahabad, Chunian. He said these wires had allegedly caused deaths, harmed livestock and
damaged private property in affected communities. Khan also spoke about long power outages
and said some residents were facing up to 18 hours without electricity. He said consumers were
experiencing financial pressure because of billing problems and difficulties with electricity
services. The concerns were raised as local residents continued seeking better service and
clearer responses from LESCO officials. Khan called for greater attention to consumer rights,
public safety and complaints about electricity services in the area. He said concerns involving
transformer repairs, faulty meters and billing should receive proper attention from authorities.
The development has brought renewed focus to electricity services and consumer complaints in
Chunian and nearby villages. Any allegations of bribery or misconduct would require
investigation before responsibility can be established.
