Pakistan honoured its frontline polio workers on World Polio Day 2026 for their dedication to
protecting children. The Pakistan frontline polio workers event recognised their efforts to
prevent polio and help build a healthier future for every child.
Pakistan’s Polio Eradication Initiative organised the ceremony on Friday under the theme
“Shukriya Polio Frontline Workers – Celebrating the Champions of a Polio-Free Pakistan.” The
event celebrated the hard work and sacrifices of people who help protect children through
vaccination.
Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Malik Mukhtar
Ahmad Bharath attended the ceremony. Ayesha Raza Farooq, the Prime Minister’s Focal
Person for Polio Eradication, also joined the gathering.
Development partners and donors attended the event alongside more than 100 frontline
workers from different parts of Pakistan. Their participation showed the importance of working
together to protect children and eliminate polio across the country.
Frontline polio workers play a vital role in keeping children safe from this disease. They visit
homes and communities to provide vaccines and explain to parents why polio vaccination is
important for children’s health.
Many workers travel to different areas to reach children who might otherwise miss their
vaccinations. Their efforts help families access essential health services and support the
country’s ongoing vaccination campaigns.
World Polio Day is observed every year to raise awareness about polio and encourage efforts to
eliminate it worldwide. Pakistan continues to work with health professionals and development
partners to strengthen vaccination programmes and protect children.
The ceremony also highlighted the importance of community support in the fight against polio.
Parents can help by welcoming vaccination teams and making sure their children receive the
recommended polio vaccines.
Recognising these workers was a way to thank them for their continued service. Their
commitment gives hope to families and supports Pakistan’s goal of ensuring every child is
protected from polio.
