The Laiba Ejaz case is under investigation by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)
Islamabad Zone over an alleged financial fraud worth Rs7.75 million. The agency is conducting
raids at different locations to find and arrest the suspect. Officials are also examining the
family’s statements and financial records to understand how the alleged fraud took place.
According to an FIA official who spoke to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) on Saturday,
FIA Islamabad Zone Director Syed Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari visited Laiba Ejaz’s residence. He
met her family members and expressed his condolences over the tragic incident. During the
visit, he collected details from the family and assured them that the investigation was continuing.
Initial information suggests that the suspect allegedly gained the family’s trust by making false
claims about his identity and professional position. The FIA official said the suspect was not a
registered visa agent. However, he had reportedly claimed to work as an accountant at the
Supreme Court of Pakistan. He allegedly made different claims about his identity and
employment to convince the family to give him money.
According to the FIA official, the family paid Rs550,000 to the suspect for arranging employment
for Laiba Ejaz’s brother. The family allegedly paid another Rs7.2 million after he promised to
secure Laiba’s admission to Harvard University in the United States. These payments together
amount to Rs7.75 million.
Investigators are reviewing the payments and the suspect’s claims to establish the facts. FIA
teams are conducting raids at different locations to trace and arrest the suspect. Officials said
further legal action would depend on the investigation’s findings. More information is expected
as investigators gather evidence and make progress.
The allegations have not yet been finally established through the legal process. Authorities are
continuing their investigation to determine responsibility and take appropriate action according
to the law.
