LAHORE: The Railway Police has formed special teams to help stop ticketless travel on
trains. The move is aimed at improving ticket checking and ensuring that passengers follow
railway rules, according to a police spokesperson.

The Railway Police has also issued new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for ticket
checking. Police officials will work with ticket checkers and station masters instead of taking
independent action against passengers who are traveling without tickets.

Ticket checks will be carried out at railway stations, platforms and inside trains during
journeys. Special attention will be given to trains and stations where more complaints about
ticketless travel have been received.

The Railway Police has directed its officers to deal with passengers politely and respectfully
during the checking process. The spokesperson said that harassment, illegal detention and
misbehavior with passengers will not be tolerated.
