The Punjab Government Colleges Intermediate Results 2026 have shown significant
improvement across several districts, according to Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat.
The minister said the overall success rate increased by around 11 percentage points compared
with the previous year. Government colleges recorded an average result of 65.81 percent this
year, compared with 54.84 percent in 2025. He said the improvement reflects stronger
academic performance among students studying in public colleges. Rana Sikandar Hayat also
linked the progress with education reforms introduced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
He said these reforms are beginning to show positive results across the province. The minister
shared the information while speaking at a welcome ceremony for new students at Cholistan
University of Animal Sciences. He said the improvement was recorded in several districts,
although the percentage varied from one district to another. Attock recorded the highest
improvement, with its success rate increasing by 27.30 percent this year.

Several other districts also recorded noticeable improvements in their government college
examination results this year. Khanewal recorded an improvement of 21.73 percent, while
Lodhran showed a rise of 21.68 percent. Muzaffargarh recorded a 19.83 percent improvement,
while Chakwal improved by 19.34 percent during the latest examination results. Jhang recorded
an improvement of 17.64 percent, while Pakpattan showed a rise of 17.06 percent. Mandi
Bahauddin recorded a 14.25 percent improvement, according to the figures shared by the
education minister. Mianwali also showed strong progress, with its results improving by 15.41
percent this year. Chiniot recorded a 12.60 percent improvement, while Nankana Sahib showed
an increase of 12.35 percent. Multan improved by 12.44 percent, while Rawalpindi recorded an
11.95 percent increase. Layyah showed a 10.83 percent improvement, while Lahore recorded a
9.42 percent increase in its success rate.

Other districts across Punjab also recorded improvements in their government college results,
according to the figures shared by the minister. Sahiwal recorded a 9.62 percent improvement,
while Okara showed an increase of 12.22 percent. Dera Ghazi Khan improved by 7.77 percent,
while Rajanpur recorded an increase of 8.79 percent. Bahawalpur recorded a 7.26 percent
improvement, while Bahawalnagar showed a rise of 5.91 percent. Rahim Yar Khan improved by
8.88 percent, while Vehari recorded an increase of 8.07 percent. Sargodha showed an 8.32
percent improvement, while Khushab recorded a rise of 6.43 percent. Faisalabad improved by
7.30 percent, while Toba Tek Singh recorded an increase of 6.66 percent. Gujranwala recorded
a 2.43 percent improvement, while Gujrat showed a rise of 4.15 percent. Hafizabad improved by
8.27 percent, while Narowal and Sialkot recorded increases of 7.84 and 4.02 percent
respectively.

Rana Sikandar Hayat said the improved examination results are an encouraging sign for
government colleges and their students. He said better results reflect the efforts of teachers,
students, college administrations, and education authorities across Punjab. The minister said
the government wants to continue improving the quality of education in public sector colleges.
He also expressed hope that the success rate in board examinations would increase further
during the coming years. According to the minister, continued education reforms will provide
students with better opportunities to improve their academic performance. The latest figures
show improvement across many districts, although the level of progress differs between
individual areas. The minister made these remarks while addressing a reception for newly
enrolled students at Cholistan University of Animal Sciences. He said the government would
continue working on reforms aimed at improving educational standards. The announcement has
drawn attention to the performance of government colleges and the academic progress of
students across Punjab.
