The LCCI Election 2026 has attracted fresh attention after concerns were raised over the
counting of votes in the Corporate Class. The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry held
its Corporate Class polling on September 23. Fifteen Executive Committee seats were
contested during this phase of the election. According to the reported results, the Vision Alliance
secured 13 seats, while the PPBA Alliance won two seats. Ali Hassam Asghar received 1,700
votes and secured the highest position among the candidates. Sheikh Muhammad Ibrahim
received 1,638 votes, while Hamid Raza secured 1,605 votes. Other successful candidates
included Syed Yousaf Jameel Hussain Rizvi, Azim Iftikhar, Mardan Ali Zaidi, and Tariq
Mahmood. PPBA candidates Chaudhry Tahir Manzoor and Amir Ata Bari also secured seats
with 1,478 and 1,460 votes respectively. The results later became a matter of concern for the
PPBA Alliance, which questioned the counting process.

Following the preliminary announcement, PPBA Alliance Chairman Mian Anjum Nisar raised
concerns about the vote counting. PPBA candidates reportedly submitted a formal request to
the election commission for recounting of the votes. The election record was then sealed in the
presence of observers from the Directorate General of Trade Organizations. This step was
taken after the objections were raised regarding the counting process. The recounting request
has become an important development because it could help address questions about the
accuracy of the initial count. Reports also indicate that the election process had already
received considerable attention before polling. The Lahore High Court had earlier dealt with a
petition concerning the LCCI elections. According to a report submitted by the DGTO, both sides
agreed to hold the election at the Lahore Chamber office. They also agreed on representation
from both sides in the election commission. The court subsequently allowed the elections to
proceed according to the announced schedule.

Reports have also circulated about tensions between some members during discussions related
to the recounting process. Some sources have mentioned a heated exchange between
members and claims of inappropriate behaviour during the proceedings. However, the specific
allegations of physical fighting have not been independently confirmed in the major reports
reviewed for this news update. Therefore, those claims should be treated as allegations until an
official statement or reliable independent evidence becomes available. The main confirmed
development remains the recounting request submitted after concerns about the Corporate
Class vote count. The latest official results reported by Business Recorder show that the LCCI
election process has concluded, with 30 candidates elected from the Corporate and Associate
Classes. Two women were also elected on reserved seats. The Associate Class results gave all
15 seats to candidates from the Vision Alliance. The election commission’s handling of the
