The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore Zone has arrested 12 people
during raids on two illegal call centers involved in international telecom fraud. The arrested
suspects include two women. The agency also seized 28 digital devices during the operations.
According to an NCCIA spokesperson, the raids were conducted at two locations named
‘Solution Hub’ in Batapur and ‘Task Taker’ in Punjab Housing Society. The operations were
carried out after a competent court issued search warrants based on credible information.
Initial investigations revealed that the illegal call centers were targeting foreign citizens in
Canada, the United States, and other countries. The suspects allegedly cheated people by
offering fake mobile phone upgrades, network packages, and SIM deals.
The suspects reportedly pretended to be customer service representatives of well-known
international telecom companies. These companies included Rogers, Bell, Telus, and AT&T.
They allegedly used fake offers to collect customers’ financial details and carry out bank card
fraud.
During the first raid, the NCCIA arrested Arsala Tahir and six male suspects. They were
identified as Muhammad Sameer Tahir, Hussain Rizwan, Abdul Rehman, Umar Khalid, Syed Ali
Murtaza, and Sohaib Ali.
In the second raid, the agency arrested Ayesha Muzammil and four men. Their names were
Moazzam Sultan, Zain Ashraf, Zain, and Muhammad Faisal.
The enforcement teams also recovered 13 laptops, two desktop computers, and 13 mobile
phones. According to the spokesperson, the devices contained automated calling software and
databases of foreign contacts.
All seized devices have been sent for forensic examination to collect digital evidence and
investigate the alleged activities of the suspects.
Cases have been registered against the arrested individuals, and further investigations are
underway. NCCIA Additional Director Atif Ameer said that the agency would continue taking
action against illegal call centers and the misuse of people’s financial information across the
region.
The operation highlights the growing efforts of law enforcement agencies to control cybercrime
and protect people from international financial fraud. Citizens are advised to remain careful
when receiving unexpected calls or offers asking for personal or banking information.
